Powerhouse drummer or tasteful timekeeper, you decide. Top Kiwi drummer Mark Lockett is set to celebrate his seventh album release, ‘Swings and Roundabouts’. Recorded recently in New York, a chordless quartet also featuring top NY heavyweights David Binney, Duane Eubanks and Matt Penman.  Masterful improvisations in a cutting-edge setting.

During lockdown Lockett penned nine original compositions inspired by his love of the past, jazz giant Ornette Coleman and drawing on the modern sound of his contemporaries.

Album was released in 2023 and to celebrate Mark is embarking on a ten-concert Japan and Europe tour. Lockett has assembled a smok’n quartet for this KVO outing which features Kiwi tenor saxophonist Roger Manins, alto saxophonist Juliane Rickenmann, trumpet Fred Stalder, bassist Paddy Fitzgerald and Lion-heart Lockett on drums.

This will be Lockett’s debut Europe outing, Mark is Looking forward to bringing his great band to perform in Frankfurt, Berlin, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Switzerland.

So, “Lockett in” for the KVO show, it will be a night to remember!
